An Anceint Kauri jewelry box from Pete Broome
Bob,
I wanted to thank you for the help getting the piece of Kauri I needed to make a Christmas gift for my daughter. As I may have mentioned, I made her a jewelry box. She took it back to college with her and has received many questions about the wood. I made sure she understood the Kauri′s amazing history.
Anyway, I wanted to send you a picture of how the box turned out. I combined it with some Paduk because I loved the color contrasts. I have always found woodworking to be a very special experience and thinking about what this planet must have been like when this tree was alive made the experience much more meaningful.
Anyway, thanks again for all your help and I know I will be ordering more wood in the very near future.
