An Ancient Kauri Cabinet from Phil Smyth
Hi Bob,
Just thought you might like to see the pictures of my finished cabinet using some of the ancient kauri that you sent me.
Still the cabinet was all about a very simple design to show off the amazing figure in the wood and this I think it does very successfully, even if at close range the joint details leave a little to be desired… The finish by the way was based on rubbing down to 500 grit and then 0000 wire wool, 2 layers of shellac knocked back with wire wool each time and two layers of wax applied with wire wool too.
