After receiving my order I was a little surprised at the color. It seemed awfully white. I made my first reel seat and it was nice but not the warm buttery color you had described. I thought maybe the finish might change it, so was patient. Not quite sure about the "fire" but sanded it to 1200 grit anyway.
After a coat of Polyurethane, WOW!
It just lit up!
Here is a very basic reel seat but I was able to catch the "fire".
